2012 Horsemanship Day Camps
Introducing young children to the joys of horsemanship is one of the highlights of summer at RockMeadow. Children, ages 6 through 10, enjoy a one week day camp with plenty of hands on time with safe and well trained horses and ponies. The camps are limited to just ten campers, insuring that each child receives plenty of one on one attention from our instructors and camp counselors. Our camps are designed to be an excellent introductory experience for young children with little to no riding background. The camps run Monday through Friday, 9:30 am till 3:30 pm.
In addition to our summer camps, we also offer two Mini- Camps, which coincide with the Issaquah School District’s mid-winter and spring breaks. Mini-Camps are limited to 10 campers, ages 6 through 10, with little to no riding experience. The mini-camps run 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
A typical day at Summer Day Camp includes:
· Learning about the different breeds, colors and markings of horses and ponies.
· Grooming, feeding, and caring for a horse or pony.
· Riding time! Young riders are accompanied by a camp counselor to safely lead the horse and provide help and encouragement. A professional adult will instruct and guide the campers.
· Arts and Crafts. Campers will be assembling a notebook over the course of the week to store all of their classroom handouts, drawings and other items.
· Horse Show! On the last day of our Summer Day Camps, the young riders will demonstrate what they have learned by participating in a Horse Show. We welcome parents, family and guardians to come and watch the campers in their first horse show.
