2011 Planning, Clinics and Schooling Shows

I'm working on our 2011 calendar, and wanted to ask everyone what your thoughts are regarding Clinics and Schooling Show classes.

I'm thinking of offering a "mini-show" for our youngest competitors that would include walk only classes, and walk-trot classes.  However, the "mini-show" would be a 1/2 day event, probably a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  The Mini's would be for ages 5 - 10.  Any thoughts or comments?

I'd like to know what types of classes you'd really like to see at our monthly schooling shows.  Specifically, would most of you agree that the over fences classes could be from the CrossRail to 3' fence heights, or would you like to see a 3'6" division included.

Would you like to see Jumper classes included?

For those of you who have attended our most recent shows, what did you like about them and what would you like to see improved or changed?

Finally, if you could pick any clinician, who would you most like to see give a clinic at RockMeadow.  What time of year would a clinic be most beneficial to you?

Thank you for taking the time to give me your input!  I'd like each and every one of our events to really be of use and benefit to you, the riders!

My Best,
Deb Ritchie

I LOVE the idea of having a separate show for the"minis'! Then the more advanced students wouldn't have to wait until 2:00 for the Teeny Hunters to start.

Thanks for your comment Rebecca! I agree, I think it would be a more positive experience for both the youngest competitors and for our older kids and adults. The little ones wouldn't have to ride early in the morning, and maybe it would be easier for everyone's family and friends. I sure appreciate your comment. I'll forward you a coupon good for one free schooling show class, or one section of a clinic as an auditor! Many Thanks!

Loved having the full divisions for the schooling shows! I do think you are on the right path with putting the W-T classes on a separate day from the older riders/bigger jumpers would make better use of time for all concerned. Also, "theme" shows seem to be real crowd pleasers! The Halloween show was something that all enjoyed (and the costumes were great for bomb-proofing the green filly!) We really enjoyed coming out to the two shows we did - hoping to do more next year :)

HI Kate, Thank you for taking the time to add your comments about our schooling shows. I really appreciate it! I agree with you, the Divisions are a great way to go, and we'll continue organizing our classes that way in the coming New Year. I especially liked your comment about having "themed" horse shows. It really does make it just the much more fun. I'm leaning towards having one just for fun type class at each show, i.e. bareback, ride a buck, egg and spoon - just something silly and fun! I'll be posting the 2011 calendar within the next couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to our next batch of schooling shows! Thank you Kate. I'll forward a coupon to you for one "free" class at the next RockMeadow schooling show that you attend.

I think that a Medals class would be really fun! I did one of them at Gold Creek and I loved it! I think the others would like it too!
